Life brings in its wake many twists and turns but greatness dwells not in materialism but in attitude and positive thinking.

On a promising day of September 24, 1972, a star, Ernest Oppong, was born to Mr Charles Oppong and Madam Grace Pomaa in Dormaa Ahenkro in the Bono Region of Ghana.

Being the first of nine is an indication of leadership, the failure of which could plunge destiny into destruction. Events had it that, Ernest Oppong’s parents divorced not long after his birth.

This means he had to bear the discomfort of being raised by different step mothers throughout life – a situation that gravely affected his stability and education.

Only in Primary School he had to bear the drudgery of attending two different schools. First he was enrolled in Dormaa Ahenkro Presby Primary School in1978 where he spent only two years. He was then moved to Koraso L/A Primary School to continue his primary school education from class three to class six. From 1985 to 1988 he came back to Dormaa Ahenkro Presby Continuation School where he obtained his Middle School Living Certificate.

When it became clear that further education was out of his reach he started his apprenticeship in electronics. What was rather funny and quite bizarre was that, in his peculiar case, he had to go through apprenticeship for six years spanning 1988 to 1994.

He immediately opened his own table-top repairing shop so he could make ends meet. In the words of John Mitchell, “Our attitude in life determines life’s attitude toward us.” Things did not come easy but he endured and persevered with the hope of hitting the sky one day. That was the genesis of Ernest Oppong Electronics.

The Bible says, ‘ Man must not live alone..’ In February, 2000 he betrothed Mrs Belinda Oppong, who has since been a life partner and a friend. By the grace of God, the couple have been blessed with three adorable children, Bright Ofori, a product of Ghana Technology University in Accra, Miss Gloria Oppong, a final year student of the Ghana’s Premier University, University of Ghana and Sharon Oppong, a third year student of Sunyani Senior High School.

With high penchant and strong affinity for business, Mr Ernest Oppong made a giant move into the education sector with the establishment of Mindfield School of Excellence in Dormaa Ahenkro in August 2018.

By dint of hard work, determination and the favor of God, Mr Oppong has employed over 60 people.

He is a devout christian with the Evangel Assemblies of God Church in Dormaa Ahenkro.

On his historic 50th birthday celebration we stand together and say Happy birthday our hero. May the favor of God continue to overwhelm you.
